The Discover Hanoi group organizes walks around some of the city’s fascinating historic & cultural areas, our current walks include:

  • Food and Bia Hoi tours exploring and experiencing some typical local food and beer
  • Lang Ong Street discovering traditional medicine
  • HoanKiemLake area and its architecture and historical sites
  • TrucBacLake area, the home of bronze casting and the Ngu Za peninsula
  • Ba Dinh Temple and the French Quarter
  • St Josephs Cathedral and surrounding Taoists temples, Buddhist pagodas and communal houses
  • Hang Dao & Bach Ma temple and some of the surrounding streets of the old quarter with their historic buildings and houses
  • Dong Xuan Market area and adjacent small streets with their street vendors, food stalls and communal houses
  • French Concession Walk: we go back into the history of Hanoi, to the year 1874 when Vietnamese authorities granted the French a concession area along the Red River.

The walks are designed to show the hidden beauty of Hanoi and impart some of its historical & cultural secrets.We visit buildings which housed the Hanoi Guards Resistance movement, some of the oldest temples in Hanoi, the bustling markets, street stalls and tiny lanes of the old quarter, beautiful colonial buildings, the craft guilds founding sites, and temples, pagodas and communal halls with their beautiful architecture and artifacts.

Each walk takes approximately 1-2 hours and is led by a FVH volunteer who will guide you towards a greater appreciation for the past and present of Hanoi.
